Vigil For Leonard Peltier’s Release
Time: Thursday, December 16, 2010 · 7:00am – 5:00pm
Location: White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
A Call To Stand For Leonard Peltier
Barack Obama will host the second White House Tribal Nations Conference on December 16, 2010. As part of his campaign, Obama promised to hold yearly meetings with tribes. His first summit took place November 5, 2009. All 565 federally recognized tribes are invited to send one representative to the conference.
We need any and all supporters in D.C. to demonstrate our support of Leonard Peltier on Dec 16th. If it is like last year, we will stand across the street from the Department of the Interior Building from sunrise til 5 pm. It is vital to all our efforts that we have a strong attendance. We know this is short notice… but its the best we’ve got. We have to be there in large numbers-we can’t let them believe we have gone away. Anyone who thinks they can attend, please contact us.

Thank you! I am not in Washington DC, but I am standing vigil for the release of US Political Prisoner Leonard Peltier. Our good President Obama will honor the Nobel Peace Prize he has won.
It would be better in the long run to have the respect and support of the First Nations than the squirrelly 2-leggeds who change moods like each second of the day.
Finally,
reparations for the First Tribes, and First People.

The vigil was not at the White House, as you list above but across from the Dept of Interior as described in the second paragraph from Barbara and Peter Clark,
THanks I missed that 🙂
It will be a cold day in hell before Leonard Peltier is released. He remains defiant, unrepentant, and very guilty. Too bad he has fooled so many good-hearted people into believing his lies in a tortured and twisted story about how he was the victim when he shot two FBI agents in the face at point-blank range. Until he admits his guilt and asks for forgiveness from his victims’ families, he will stay where he is, where he belongs.
Why would an innocent man admit his guilt…. oh yes because this is the carrot the parole board dangles in front of people that have maintained their innocence… a carrot that Leonard Peltier would never bite!
Not true. Evidence shows there was a different shooter than Leonard Peltier, Amnesty International has taken this case.
Their investigations have shed more light on the truth that this is a political pissing contest. And Leonard Peltier is a victim of government corruption, and a continued bullying to keep the lie going.
[For someone to be so engaged in keeping him looking guilty, means they have a dog in the hunt. An old dog?]
I understand he was recently beaten by several who kept saying the same thing…him being defiant.
He did not murder those agents, and there is overwhelming evidence and proof. His words are no story, the truth is out there, the corrupt gov’t entities involved in this cover-up and grievous error owe many apologies and recompense to Leonard Peltier.
The proof of his innocence sits waiting, and open for unrepentant and spoiled gov’t types to apologize, and open the books on what really went on.
This will never happen, because the egos involved in this political cover-up will go to hell before they will do the right thing.
We see this in the dirty South all the time, Prosecutors, and cops who have tunnel vision, and get an idea in their walnut size brains will clench on, and never let go.
They do not care if it is true or not, it is their truth, and they will destroy anyone who does not subscribe to their truth.
A fine example is the West Memphis Three. Even with their shady convictions overturned by Federal Courts, West Memphis, will execute Damian Echols, an innocent man, wrongfully convicted as a boy. To prove their “right” is right, no matter what the world says. They are in charge!
Same song, different dance.
Myth: “Evidence shows there was a different shooter than Leonard Peltier, Amnesty International has taken this case… Leonard Peltier is a victim of government corruption, and a continued bullying to keep the lie going.”
Fact: The evidence, in every legal proceeding thus far, has found that Peltier was fairly tried and fairly convicted. (See the Peltier video at americanindianmafia.com to see how he changes his story.) Amnesty International has not “taken this case” and has stopped short of calling Peltier a “political prisoner.” Recent evidence in the murder trial of Anna Mae Aquash implicates Peltier in her murder as well, in connection with his boast, in front of Anna Mae, about killing the two FBI Agents. In fact, when President Clinton was considering clemency, his Attorney General Janet Reno cited Peltier’s involvement in the Aquash murder as another reason to deny him his freedom.
Myth: “The proof of his innocence sits waiting, and open for unrepentant and spoiled gov’t types to
apologize, and open the books on what really went on. This will never happen, because the egos involved in this political cover-up will go to hell before they will do the right thing.”
Fact: Peltier has appealed his case no less than twenty times in several venues and in front of numerous disinterested judges. The decisions against him are unanimous. His 1993 parole board (more conspirators?) saw through his ruse when they concluded: “Although the above evidence is consistent with your having, while at the scene of the murders, aided and abetted the use of the above-mentioned AR-15 rifle by another individual to execute the agents, the Commission is persuaded that the greater probability is that you yourself fired the fatal shots… It would be unjust to treat the slaying of these F.B.I. agents, while they lay wounded and helpless, as if your actions had been part of a gun battle. Neither the state of relations between Native American militants and law enforcement at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation prior to June 26, 1975, nor the exchanges of gunfire between individuals at the Jumping Bull Compound and the law enforcement agents who arrived there during the hours after Agents Coler and Williams were murdered, explains or mitigates the crimes you committed… Your release on parole would promote disrespect for the law in contravention of 18 U.S.C….”
Peltier remains defiant, unrepentant, and very guilty. He still manipulates people to get their sympathy. He must secretly loath them.
In the interest of equal time I approved your rant, but I strongly disagree,
Not a rant, it’s the truth. Respect the truth and you will have an easier time of finding it. I’ve talked to a lot of people with personal knowledge of this case, both native and non-native. There is no doubt Peltier did it. I don’t state this lightly but it is a fact; he is guilty by his own words, by witness accounts, and by strong evidence. Read American Indian Mafia and then make up your own mind. Don’t be fooled by the propaganda.
